Honor Simeone
Academic Specialist; Reading, Writing, Math, Executive Functioning Coach, ISEE/SSAT Preparation
Honor is an invaluable teacher and has been part of the Browns Educational Consultants Educators team from the start. She teaches a wide range of students, whether it is teaching fundamentals with our younger students, or helping our older students prepare for the ISEE or SSAT. As an experienced teacher, Honor has many strategies and tools she teaches to help students become independent learners. For instance, she has the unique ability to break down information for students to comprehend the material and develop a deeper understanding of what is being taught. Honor taught at the Old Greenwich Elementary School and at other Connecticut elementary schools. Her love for children, coupled with her experience, and genuine thoughtfulness has helped many of our students achieve great success.
Erica Barth
Math, Science, English, French, SAT/ACT Preparation
Erica has tremendous depth with regards to academics and with her interpersonal skills. She recently defended her dissertation and earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Science at Yale. Erica also holds a Master’s degree at Yale and a Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University. Before focusing on science, Erica pursued her other love at Johns Hopkins, which is literature and writing. Throughout her studies, Erica has always continued to teach students. For instance, Erica taught younger classmates in science classes and assisted them with writing assignments at the Yale Writing Center. The combination of her strong academic background and her encouraging gentle way makes her an ideal teacher for older students at any level needing support with science, math, or English.
Margot Bush
Academic Specialist; College Essay, English, History, Executive Functioning Coach
Margot’s true love for the students she works with shows with the significant strides her students make. Margot has a strong background working with students who need English or history support, time management and study skills strategies, or simply having assignments broken down to make them easier to understand. Additionally, Margot works with students on organizing and formulating their college essays that really speak to who they are as an individual. Over the years, Margot has worked with a variety of learners and has developed many different techniques to help students navigate their middle and high school years.
Justine Goggin
English, History, College Essay, SAT/ACT Preparation
Justine is familiar with the demands and rigor placed on students. She attended Choate for high school and graduated from Dartmouth. Justine works with students to help them develop the skills and confidence needed to prepare for the SAT and ACT. Her gentle manner and extensive knowledge of test strategies has helped many students achieve competitive test scores. Justine also works with students on organizing and writing English and History essays. Additionally, she supports students as they are creating their story for the college essays. Students love working with Justine and look forward to her sessions.
Clare McManus
Math, Science, Executive Functioning Coach, SAT/ACT Preparation
Clare has been teaching with Browns Educational Consultants Educators for many years and is a highly sought-after teacher. Her specialty is helping students with high school math and science. Clare’s easy but direct manner makes her students feel comfortable while they tackle high-level math and science concepts. Her genuine love for her students and for teaching these subjects shine through as she works with students. Furthermore, Clare has extensive experience teaching Algebra through BC Calculus and she can teach students who need support with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Debby Southwick
Math Specialist, ISEE/SSAT Preparation
Debby’s love for teaching started from working at Greenwich Country Day School and at the Pike School in Andover, MA. In fact, her own children attended local independent schools, which has added to her understanding of how the private schools operate and the expectations they demand from their students. Debby engages with her students giving them the confidence and motivation to be successful learners. Debby’s enthusiasm makes students feel good about their progress and willing to take on new challenges. She is adept at using technology to help students strengthen their skills, which gives her students the opportunity to solidify concepts in a variety of ways.
